The “8-Fader Monster” Developer Newsletter
For the past year and a half, I’ve been working hard on bringing a brand new fader to life. A fader requested by a well-known American producer whom many of you would recognize, but who shall remain nameless because he’s my friend and wants privacy.
There is an epic, 60+ page thread on a popular composer forum regarding the unit, which you can dive into here.
While I’m not ready to share the “proper” name of the unit just yet, for now it will be called “The 8-Fader Monster.” Named because, well, it’s a monster in terms of development, and in terms of functionality. It’s an ambitious beast!
Here’s some quick highlights of what’s coming:
8 high end TKD faders with an incredible silk-glide feel, non-motorized, for professional MIDI work. You have never used faders like this before, I guarantee it.
8 endless potentiometers (encoders) with a fabulous, luxurious feel that oozes quality. You know that feeling when you turn the knob, and you’re like, “Ah, YESSSS!”. That’s how these feel.
Vivid, full-color scribble strips above each fader and pot, displaying pertinent CC numbers, names, and values (most units like this have drab eye-scorching OLED screens that are chunky and boring!)
Touch-sensitive controls that display information only when needed
Touch-sensitive main LCD display for ease of programming and navigation, as well as XY-pad functionality
20 LED ring lights surrounding each potentiometer to give instant feedback and old school charm
An industry first: a “SmartKnob” controller that will make navigation a breeze, as well as enable pitch-bend, MOD Wheel, and other useful functionality that we will determine.
If you want to follow the development process, and get a special insider-only discount when the unit is done, you can sign up to the developer newsletter below. I’ll send updates only 1-2 times a month at the most.
